The car is quite special as the paint colour was a special order in 1966, Opalescent Dark Blue, and the original Beige colour interior has been fully rebuilt to concours condition.
Car fully dismantled.
All suspension media blasted and then powder coated then rebuilt with new parts, all suspension joints are built with Polyurethane bushing.
All glass removed and replaced with new Sundym glass and laminated front windscreen, including a heated rear screen and switch on dash.
Bodywork stripped to bare metal and new meal welded as required,
New floor pans, new boot pan, new inner and outer cills, new door skins, new front kick panels, various sections of the bulkhead removed and replaced, new engine frames.
Engine fully stripped down and then fully rebuilt with new liners, all numbers matching, 9:1 compression pistons and a full rebuild kit from XRN Engineering. Gearbox fully rebuilt, Fully rebuilt carburettor system to concours condition by David Londsdale
New three piece clutch.
All new bearings, shocks and UJ’s, Back Axle fully rebuilt.
New wiring loom.
All clocks reconditioned by JDO Instruments, including triple chrome plating, all new lighting and lenses.
All engine ancillaries replaced with new parts.
Entire braking system replaced with new parts.
New discs all-round.
A full 2” big bore stainless sports exhaust complete with custom-made polished manifold by Classic Fabs (the best)
All chrome on whole vehicle removed and stripped then triple plated (Copper, Nickel, Chromium)
All paint work carried out on a “Rotissary” to concours condition using ICI Paint.
New Beige West of England cloth headlining - to match original, new full beige connolly hide, new beige Wilton carpet, the whole of the interior has been tailor made by marque specialist, Tom Hampton.
4 x new Curley Hub Competition Chrome wire wheels 6 x 15 shod with new 205x15 Dunlop SP Sport tyres and a new 5.5 Curley Hub Chrome wire wheel shod with a new185x15 Dunlop SP Sport tyre, 4 x new chrome spinners.
The entire restoration has taken two years and over 3000 man hours and at a cost of almost £450,000.
This Numbers Matching 1966 E Type Series 1 4.2 FHC has been built to concours condition by my company and is definitely one of the Best E Type’s out there for sale on the open market at present.
