1964 Bentley Continental Flying Spur S3 Continental

The car on offer is an extremely exclusive Bentley. An original right hand drive S3, it was delivered in rolling chassis form to HJ Mulliner on 7th August 1963, as copies of the original build sheets in the history file confirm. After six months of painstaking work, the finished car, resplendent in Oxford Blue with red leather interior, was delivered to Jack Barclay of London and sold on 11th February 1964 to Mr D Mackinnon of Burford for the sum of £8,092. 12s. 10d including £4. 10s for a full tank of petrol! Extras included electric windows all round, a radio and an electric aerial.

In late 1988 had a total mechanical overhaul at PJ Fischer Classic Automobiles of Putney, the work including a full engine strip and rebuild (at 83,234 miles) and an overhaul of the gearbox, suspension, steering and brakes at a cost of £7,602. In 1995 the car was further treated to a bare metal repaint and considered being painted in the original Oxford Blue by Jack Barclay, however, the then owner chose Royal Blue Metallic for which a bill of £12,700.

As you would expect, the car is still in lovely condition today and is drives beautifully with seamless changes from the four-speed automatic gearbox, the car is wholly original in all important respects and has a superbly patinated Red St James leather interior with excellent woodwork throughout. 

The Bentley is now within our workshop and has undergone a full engine bay detailing, a full new respray in Royal Blue metallic including all new fine coach lines in Rd St James, professionally polished stainless steel hub caps and new painted beauty rings, all five steel wheels striped and shot blasted and powder coated jet gloss black shod with B.F.Goodrich slim band white wall tyres, a new water pump supplied and fitted, It is now ready for sale, as all of the detailing has been completed, Properly cared for throughout its life by some of the best names in the business, it is ready for many more decades
